You can find out when ISS will be visible from your location from this website (you can also set-up an alert).

When the ISS is passing overhead, you can either use the coordinates given on the above website to find out the exact location of ISS, or you can use a night sky app to locate ISS. If it is not cloudy, ISS is easy to spot. It is like a very bright dot in the sky that is travelling very fast.
